On the 1st April 2021, my husband and I decided to take radical steps towards changing our lifestyle, to be better equipped to face our future together in the best way possible. We are 55 & 56 years of age and during lockdown – have both put on weight through comfort eating & drinking!
We have taken weight and measurements, sealed them in an envelope and put them away. This is not a weight loss journey, this is us changing our eating and drinking habits, by changing our mindset, and embracing being fitter.
I did a Mindsonar Psychological Profile using the context ‘healthy eating and exercise’ – it showed me quite a few things about how my thinking styles can accelerate my successes and how I can self sabotage! This is possibly the biggest ‘kick start’ I could have given myself.
We are both embracing the Fast 800 way of eating; so as of today we are 26 days into an attempt to eat 800 calories a day, to be honest we have been nearer 1200 calories; and yet we are not worrying about it. We will get to 800 calories soon. This way of eating seems extreme when you look at the calories, however, the quality of the food you eat, and the quantity does leave you feeling replenished, and because we are choosing to make everything from natural, fresh ingredients – we are enjoying what we eat. We both love the cooking together time too!
I have been able to re – start the gym sessions and I set myself a target of 4 sessions a week from mid May. I am already at 3 sessions a week, so this will soon be a win! Hubby has also joined the gym sessions and he is going twice a week – and supplementing with around 40 plus miles of cycling each week. When we go to the gym together – we are in friendly competition with each other – which plays to both our thinking styles!
I give a month by month update on our progress, as I know it is something many people talk about doing, then for many reasons choose to do nothing, or to start then stop after a short time…
My ‘What’s on my Plate’ offer will come into being at or around the end of May 2021. It will be an online program, designed for people like me and my husband, fifty -somethings, with a wish to have a happier, healthier lifestyle.
